King reaffirms determination to coordinate with Maghreb leaders to revitalize AMU

    In a message to president Abdelaziz Bouteflika on the occasion of Algerias independence day, the sovereign reaffirmed his keen determination to "coordinate with you and with our brother leaders of the Maghreb countries to revitalize the structures of our Maghreb union and reinforce its fundamentals as an effective grouping at regional level and internationally on sound foundations."    The message insisted that the ultimate objective is "to fulfil the aspirations of our peoples to reinforce ties of interaction, understanding and complementarity based on trust, good neighbourliness and respect for the specificities of our five countries."    The monarch stressed that this glorious anniversary which illustrates bonds of sincere solidarity as well as the values of joint national struggle for freedom and independence "prompts us to endeavour to fulfil the current generations aspirations for a bright future and concerted efforts to achieve complementarity and integration between our two countries and peoples."    He reiterated keen will to jointly exploit this common historical asset towards consolidating fruitful relations of co-operation and effective solidarity to cover all areas.
